Abyssal Escape 2017X (The Broken Face): Beast form and abilities

Who 2017X is

2017X is one of the five killers Abyssal Escape launched with on 17 October 2026, and the developers title him The Broken Face. Like The Deity, he comes from the X line of characters in the Sonic.EXE fan community. He is a separate killer, not a skin.

Beast form

2017X has an official Beast form. On 6 October 2026 the developers posted footage titled "2017X - Beast, Savage Jump Complete" and said only one Beast ability was left to finish before release. The footage shows:

• A vertical gauge labelled "Impatience" sits on the right of the screen.
• Stamina reads 110.
• A third Beast ability slot was still empty in that footage. Its name hasn't been published.

When 2017X turns into the Beast (which phase, or what triggers it) isn't stated in the official posts we found. Every killer "evolves into increasingly lethal phases", so a late-phase transformation is likely, but we list it as unconfirmed.

Base-form abilities

The official base-form gameplay video (9 October 2026) was marked work in progress, and we couldn't read its ability wheel. Some fan sites list base-form moves for 2017X, but we haven't found them in any official source, so we don't repeat them here.

How popular is 2017X?

In the developers' tracked playtest (384 matches, shared 25 August 2026), 2017X, listed as "BrokenFace", was picked in 28 matches, the fewest of the five. That was before launch, with a WIP kit. Community reception since launch has been warm: one creator video calls him "the most fun EXE in Abyssal Escape".

Playing against 2017X

1. Clear red mist quickly. The escape timer drops with each clear, which limits time spent against later phases.
2. Use stuns sparingly. Stacked stuns are divided, and two stun abilities on one survivor halve that survivor's stuns (stun rules).
3. Break line of sight. Chases end if the killer can't see you for more than 3 seconds.
