Abyssal Escape survivor mechanics: stuns, chases, and abilities
How stuns, stun stacking, and chases work in Abyssal Escape on Roblox, plus confirmed survivor abilities like Healing Box and Camouflage and the survivor editor, all from the developers' own posts.
How we checkIn Abyssal Escape, equipping two stun abilities halves every stun you land, and stuns on an already-stunned killer are divided by 1.25 × the number of stuns. Chases start only when the killer is close with a clear view, and end if you get far away or break sight for 3+ seconds. Healing Box heals a teammate for 30 HP and revives them from Downed.

Still from the developers' "Survivor Accessory Editor QoL Improvement" video (15 Sep 2026).
Stuns: the two global limits
The developers explained stuns in a thread on 9 September 2026. They designed the system so that, unlike some similar games, survivors can't easily stack stuns to "torture the killer" or get free heals. Every stun is a separate instance, which lets the game change a stun's length while it's active.
1. Two stun abilities = half-length stuns. If a survivor equips two stun abilities, the stun time of every stun they do is cut in half. Pick one stun ability unless you have a reason to take two.
2. Stacked stuns are divided. If several stuns land on the killer at once, each stun after the first is shortened. The developers first tried a flat 20% reduction per extra stun, found it still too strong, and replaced it with a StunDivider:
Division = Stun Count × 1.25 · Stun Time = Stun Time ÷ Division
The table at the top shows what that does to a 3-second stun. In practice, spread your team's stuns out rather than firing them together.
Chases: when they start and end
The chase system was revamped in May 2026. Chase music layers 1–3 still follow distance, but layer 4, the actual chase, needs the killer to see you.
| A chase starts only if… | A chase stops if… |
|---|---|
| the killer is close enough | you get far enough away |
| the killer has an unobstructed view of you | the killer loses sight of you for more than 3 seconds |
| you aren't using a stealth move such as Camouflage | the killer can "see" you but the view is blocked for more than 10 seconds |
So: break line of sight, and use stealth abilities before you're spotted.
Survivor abilities confirmed by the developers

Official Healing Box ability card, posted by @AbyssalEscape on X (10 May 2026).
| Ability | What the developers say | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Healing Box | "Place a healing box for your teammates. It heals for 30 HP. It will remove their Downed state if they are Downed. You cannot use the box yourself." | Ability card posted 10 May 2026 |
| Camouflage | Named as a stealth move that stops a chase from starting | Mentioned in the chase revamp, 8 May 2026 |
| Fireball | Survivor ability shown as a VFX and animation sneak peek | Sneak peek 5 Apr 2026; not confirmed in the launch build |
The Healing Box card also confirms that survivors have HP and can be put into a Downed state that a teammate's heal clears. Other abilities you may see named online (Arm Cannon, Weak Punch, and others) aren't in the official posts we found, so we can't confirm them yet.
The developers track which survivor abilities are used alongside killer pick and kill rates, so expect balance changes.
Building your survivor
You create your own survivor rather than playing a fixed character:
- An accessory editor with text boxes and sliders for accessory size, position, and rotation (improved September 2026).
- Metal Mobian parts: you can make each body part metal separately, for example a metal hand on a normal arm, or a full metal body (August 2026 sneak peek).

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I equip two stun abilities in Abyssal Escape?
+
Every stun you land lasts half as long. The developers added this so survivors can't easily stun-lock the killer.
Can survivors stun-lock the killer?
+
Not easily. Each stun on an already-stunned killer is divided by 1.25 × the number of stuns, so a second 3-second stun lasts 1.2 seconds and a third lasts 0.8 seconds.
How do I lose a chase in Abyssal Escape?
+
Get far enough away, or keep the killer from seeing you for more than 3 seconds. A chase also ends if your view is blocked for more than 10 seconds, even if the killer can technically see you.
What does Healing Box do?
+
It places a box that heals a teammate for 30 HP and removes their Downed state. You can't use your own box.
